Before the Pyramids: The Origins of Egyptian Civilization with Emily Teeter

Emily Teeter, Research Associate at the Oriental Institute and Curator of the “Before the Pyramids: The Origins of Egyptian Civilization” exhibit at the OI gave this talk to Oriental Institute Members during a special preview of the exhibit. The exhibit runs through December 31, 2011.

For more about becoming a member of the OI visit:

This exhibit of artifacts from the Predynastic and Early Dynastic periods (ca. 4000-2685 BC), documents the birth of the most fundamental aspects of ancient Egyptian civilization — architecture, hieroglyphic writing, a belief in the afterlife, and allegiance to a semi-divine king — more than 1,000 years before the pyramids were built. Joining the 140 objects from the permanent collection of the Oriental Institute are the Battlefield Palette and a statue of the Second Dynasty king Khasekhem, two masterworks of Egyptian art from the Ashmolean Museum of Oxford University.

    Black component of ancient Egypt

.On the left are very tanned complected Egyptians both in the sunlight and darker contrast room. In the middle is Djehutihotep directly from British Museum websight ( assuring no contrast distortions and deliberate outside manipulations). On the right are Southern Egyptians from Aswan and Elephantine in a darker tinted space and in the sunlight — This is not to say the tan type wasn't part of ancient Egypt, but they weren't depicted like Djehutihotep. Orangish, and yellowish tones were also used

  • Sarcophagus in Pyramid is for ritual not burial. Giant Megalithic stones are cement. No not aliens.

  • Thracian script was before Egypt.
Pyramids are cave temples for ritual initiation into the brotherhood of the snake serpent dragon. A death and rebirth ritual for knowledge of the afterlife and your soul. Real death not just contemplated like Freemasons 33 degree ritual in Albert Pikes mausoleum topped with a Pyramid.

  • Ancient Egypt, those who built the great pyramids and the sphynx, were all black, as proven in this extensive scientific study. And, the whites who wrote the false history that said that they were white actually knew that they were black.

  • Cham(Ham) , son of Noah took his family group to what is now Egypt. The son of Ham was Misraim who was the father of the Egyptians.Even today , the people refer to themselves as Misraim.Passing through Cairo in 2013, our bus went through a commercial area.On one large building, the sign in large letters read Bank of Misraim.Ham or his son was the first pharaoh ,Menes. This all took place soon after the Tower of Babel event when God dispersed people to populate the whole earth. Circa 2300 to 2250 bc..Champollion ,historian for Napoleon, didn’t know where to begin in time. He guessed around3000bc., but was too ancient by about 700 years. That’s why all other ancient histories of the Mid East don’t fit in with Egyptian history to this day.

  • You can't compress history and tell your version of their story using your history as a template. They were smarter by leaps and bounds than we are today not the reverse. They were black people not Egyptian, until given that name.

  • African Origin of Civilization – The Myth or Reality and The Rise and Fall of Ancient Egypt were more comprehensive on this subject. 40 minutes minus the five for introduction is not nearly enough for such an ambitious title as the one given here. I would also recommend Black Genesis to explore the very beginning of Nile Valley Civilizations as well as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUtAxUQjwB4
